The joint exhibition between Jimmy Engineer and Mueen Saheed was a historic moment for cultural diplomacy. Held in March 2019, this special event served as the grand opening for the Billari Art Gallery in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
By bringing together Pakistan's "Son of Pakistan" and one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated abstract artists, the exhibition became a beautiful symbol of peace, brotherhood, and artistic harmony between the two countries.
Key Highlights of the Exhibition
• The Venue: The exhibition proudly inaugurated the Billari Art Gallery, a stunning five-story building on Park Road in Colombo, with three entire floors dedicated to displaying art.
• A Contrast of Masters: The gallery brought together two distinct artistic languages. Jimmy Engineer’s highly detailed, realistic depictions of human struggle and rural life beautifully balanced Mueen Saheed’s vibrant, fluid, and therapeutic abstract expressionism.
• Distinguished Guests: The event attracted top-tier art collectors, diplomats, and cultural leaders. It was officially inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat, who highly praised both artists for using their talents to weave closer ties between the two South Asian nations.
